Oil Paint On Stretched Canvas 107cm x 92cm Vanity and self-love exist in a delicate balance. One a necessary affirmation of self-worth. The other a potential descent into obsession, like a trophy hunter collecting trophies, preferably besotted lovers. Such as the man I have painted adorning the woman’s neck with a pink bow tied around his wrists. I have painted the background in a surreal abstract background to mirror the subconscious desire for something more. Something beyond the skin-deep reflections being crafted. Does vanity seek validation from within? Or is it dependent on the gaze of others to confirm its worth?
