The Outsiders.

120cm x 92cm - Once a simple pleasure, smoking has been pushed to the margins. Outside of buildings. Away from crowds. And thrust into the shadows of modern social etiquette. It is no longer just a habit. It has become a symbol of the rigid, rules-based world we live in. Where even personal vices must conform to external regulations. Yet, to the smoker, the act remains deeply intrinsic, almost ritualistic. Lighting a cigarette is not just about nicotine. It is about the subconscious pull of repetition, comfort, and familiarity. It is a perfect example of the psychology of addiction. But as smoking fades from the mainstream, society has replaced it with another, more insidious addiction. One that does not stain the fingers or linger in the air, but is just as intoxicating. Social media, electronic media, and the never-ending digital feeds have seamlessly, cheerfully infiltrated our daily lives. Becoming the new cigarette for the modern age.
