150cm x 160cm - In this work, I explore the downfall of society. How we, as a collective, have become so distracted by social media and other forms of useless entertainment that we fail to see what's really happening in this world. Where everything is over-complicated and under-performing. Where Climate change, and Nano-plastics remain with us for countless generations. The never-ending wars. You name it, it's All there, but who cares...? The indifferent drug addict I painted in the bottom left corner serves as a stark representation of this apathy. He exists in a daze, numbed and detached. Much like the broader population, which has chosen complacency over confrontation. We are anesthetized, whether by substances, entertainment, or empty political promises. ? As the world continues its mad descent into chaos. The so-called leaders of our society, the very ones we voted in to manage our affairs and to protect and care for our world, only offer hollow words and performative gestures. The very leaders who quite happily steal from the poor and give to the rich. A reversal of the 'Robin Hood' phenomenon. Who live extraordinarily lavish lifestyles at taxpayers' expense, and treat us just like another resource - the 'human resource'. The figures in this composition can be seen in frantic motion. People desperate to get away from world leaders who would sell their own Soul, nay, sell Your soul, ‘fighting for your country’, fighting for ‘democracy’ ....While an entire 'learned' and 'informed' section of some planet, spinning around a sun, spirals through a sea of of its own filth - Down the drain. . . Welcome to the 21st Century
