New work title; 1975 and thank God weez still Alive! ( Dean Carlsons graduation 5 kegger party) 2' by 3' acrylic Description; The date was June 2 1975. An event took place that evening. Some folks knew the details yet a lot of us heard about it through the grapevine. Earlier that day we had our graduation ceremony. Word went around, " there's a 5 kegger at Dean Carlson's parents land off of Military. All are welcome!" By the time this young artist arrived the environment was full of excitement, joy, yet a bittersweet sense of reality. This will be the last time together and onward to the unknown future. I was asked from the committee to create another piece for the alumni Reunion fundraiser. I finally realized that particular evening at 8:39 pm 50 years ago it seemed so significant. So in doing research and reaching out to many folks who mayve remembered yet many claimed they were there yet, very foggy to recollect the experience. Had nothing to do with the beer I'm sure! Still persistent and great success! Many thanks including 1) Dean Carlson and his Krewe supplying photos of the original house, pump house and the 40 acres where the event took place. 2) Gary Anderson remembering the folks who actually had cars and make and year of these vehicles. Incredible! 3) Regina Weaver Young provided the 75' year book. You may notice some recognizable individuals, also others that "might" be them and could very well be. The styles, haircuts, the fashion, humor and memories all by memory. The work will be up for silent auction at the Park Cottage Grove Reunion 50th Year reunion tomorrow evening starting around 5 pm All proceeds will be for the 1975 alumni committee Thank you and God Bless you All sincerely!
