Windswept Fields

The continuing adventures of Michael in New Zealand. . . and introducing some obligatory sheep. The fourth landscape in this series from the Otago region around Dunedin on new Zealand's South Island. The same place as the last painting listed but looking in a different direction. This was how I saw the day fade away on Xmas Eve 2004, battered by the cold winds beating across the Otago Peninsula. The sheep seemed warm and happy, but I was freezing! Behind me were long sloping fields leading down to cliffs that dropped into the Cold grey Pacific Ocean. Occasionally a shaft of sun would break through, sweep quickly across the hills and light up the sheep as if they were in a spotlight on a darkened stage. Oil on canvas panel. 2005 10" x 8"
