This graphic comes from Genesis-4 verses 8,9 & reads like this –[ And Cain talked with Abel his brother & it came to pass when they were in the field that Cain rose up against his brother & slew him. And the Lord said unto Cain “where is Abel thy brother? ] Cain’s “attitude” is revealed with his answer to God (at the end of verse 9) which is the inspiration of this illustration. Cain knew that God knew what he (Cain) had done to his brother – but also that his sacrifice to God was rejected “before the fact” of what he had done to his brother.
