Bob and Maura fled Queens to enjoy the idyllic splendor of country life. They homeschooled their son to become a “passionate advocate for our world.” He’s working towards his PhD in Marine Biology and is also into bats, the winged ones. Growing up in the backwoods, one acquires a communion with nature that Thoreau insisted will lead to truth and spiritual renewal. Or, as the popular 1960’s sitcom claimed: “Land spreadin’ out so far and wide Keep Manhattan; just give me that countryside. You are my wife. Goodbye, city life. Green Acres, we are there.”
