Dheillan hiking through the Anleizer mountains wearing the Brehtsoln's traditional Tseikohth (essentially a Great Kilt). He plays a minor part in the Forged by Fire trilogy prequel and tentatively shows up again in book two and three (because I can't write in chronological order to safe my life). This one was a challenge on multiple levels. The color scheme is triadic so I had just three colors (Green, Orange, and Violet) plus black and white. Unlike a triadic color scheme with the classic primary colors, there are quite a few limits as to what you can mix with the three secondary colors. Keeping things clear and interesting with such a limited palette kept me thinking hard about what I was doing. The other challenge was Dheillan's clothing. I avoided it until pretty much the very end. The last two color scheme drawings I just did a single color and no patterns on the Tseikohth, partially because it was easier with the limited palette for the monochrome and complimentary color schemes. This time I let myself be talked into plaid and my heaven, was it HARD. Trying to get the folds right and not getting lost between the two colors was extremely difficult, but I think it was worth it in the end.
