14" x 17" oil on carpet design paper with scratching out detail. Lanyon Quoit is an ancient burial chamber constructed of three main stones and a cap stone. The cap stone has been re-positioned many times since construction, thanks to vandalism and sheer old age. These stones housed the remains of the dead under the cap stone. Over the stones was originally turf, and so this would have been seen as a grassy mound, accessible only through a tiny hole init's base.

Very good. I too have painted Lanyon Quoit and you have got the look of the granite slabs just right, not easy to do.Gary Glass 09 Feb 2006

Beautiful oils, the colors are so nice. We have mounds here in the southern U.S. as well, although all are not for burial. Love this piece.David Perkins 06 Mar 2005
