Although Horus isn't a mosaic, he is the guardian over the gemstones used in all of the mosaics in the gallery. He started out as a 200 lb. piece of Black Orca marble and by the time his spirit was released, he weighs 86 lbs. I loved the way the tail came out; it was a point of contact where the white Calcite touched Carbon. The Orca marble is known for being pitch black with crystal contacts of pure white.

Thanks Joanie. He took over 100 hours of chiseling and polishing from a solid piece of black marble. My Granddaughter calls him my "Maltese Falcon". She got the name from a book that she read. Hope you have a Beautiful New Year.
