Abe Lincoln

19" x 13" oval. American President during the Civil War. Hand sketched then inlaid with Devonian age marble 440 million years old. The black marble is called Orca, it is from a contact zone of carbon to pure white marble. The trim is from a contact zone of Malachite and Chalcopyrite. Entered into the Legends in Stone Mosaic Art Gallery. All minerals used in the mosaic are hand collected by the artist.

Artist Reply: Thanks Joanie. I think that Lincoln and Kennedy were the only two presidents in history that I have really been impressed with. They also both seem to have met the same end. Maybe the world just isn't ready for leaders who attempt to do good things for the human race. Their visions and images can be remembered and honored through our art.
