shoes

I had this assignment to draw shoes. Sometimes I swear professors intentionally come up with the most boring assignments to force students to test their imaginations and come up with something unique. I chose this young girl from Vietnam who'd lost both legs and an arm during the war. I'm sometimes razzed about my frequent anti-war themes, but now more than ever, I think it's the artist's duty to speak the conscience of the people.

Holy wow. I wish I had words to describe how much this touched me.. Regarding the skill, I always envy those who can successfully use charcoal.. so consider yourself envied.

strong & powerful work,Geri...I agree with u that sometimes professors come up with the most boring projects,I don't agree with you that they do it intentionally...and i definately don't agree that shoes is a boring subject to deal with ... :-)and not only because my grandfather was a shoes maker...
