Caryl Bergman

Caryl Bergman ((1912-2001) was born in New York City. At the age of fourteen she lied about her age so she could join the chorus of the Ziegfeld Follies. Flo Ziegfeld declared that "she had the most beautiful eyes in America". Painted from a black and white photo by Alfred Cheney Johnston, the added mirror and "Vermeer-style" curtain are from my imagination. Oil painting on a stained, wooden panel. 680mm. x 410mm.x 20mm.
