14"x11" ink & acrylic on illustration board. Quintessential ancient American southern cemetery located in a swamp in Louisiana or South Carolina or ancient Florida since the area is so close to the coast it often floods, being at or below sea level. It was practical to use otherwise useless land for burials, to free up the good land for crops. After a time this practice was stopped, when it was realized sometimes loved ones became disinterred by swamp animals or alligators.
