In honor of Valentine's Day, I decided to paint Psyche, the wife of Cupid. In this painting, Psyche is headed to the temple of Venus to beg the goddess's aid in finding her husband that her own folly drove from her. Venus sets her impossible tasks because she does not want Psyche to rejoin her son, but Psyche wins through with the help of various insects and beasts. Cupid returns, Jupiter agrees to make Psyche immortal and Love (Cupid) and Soul (Psyche) are joined together forever...
