TRYPANON

Oil on 16" x 20" canvas. This piece was the result of thoughts that some things are destined to remain in between spaces, lest they never find an end point. My personal process often involves an amount of time stood in front of my work, going over and over the tiny details, working into areas that were fine as they were. I'm sure this will be a familiar feeling for many. The idea that the hole in the skull, that drilling, nagging sensation that you should just 'paint that bit again' or 'work over here some more' until the whole thing gets lost, only grows the more you drill into it. The bone isn't going to heal now, so I should stop drilling before I make it bigger.
