Oil painting, canvas, framed. 16X20" 41X51 cm. Isabella was the English king Edward II wife. Edward was an arrogant ruler and often disagreed with his barons particularly over his deviant sexual conduct. Finally, he was deposed, and allegedly Isabella had him starved to death in the tower. Then, Isabella ruled until her infant son became mature. She was a strong willed lady and very beautiful. Here she is in contemporary outfit and with the regal insignia. The artist limited capabilities unable to render a reverent yet powerful female majesty, yet one tries.
