St. Kateri Tekakwitha was known as the "Lily of the Mohawks" She was born in 1656 in New York state. She was the daughter of a Mohawk chief and later converted to Catholicism. She practiced many penances and died at the age of 23. She was canonized in 2012 by Pope Benedict XVI. Her feast day is, July 14th in the U.S.
