... I guess the choices, given the position they were in, boiled down to anchoring farther out in the elements... or... betting in favor of, no heavy caving in the immediate future.

Artist Reply: I was amazed when I saw this image that the ship was so close to the ice flanks, if you know that these ice floes are calving regularly, I think the skipper took a big risk there. On the other hand, I thought it was a great view for a watercolor
