Marilyn Monroe, not only found but created her own film company, that she named- Marilyn Monroe Productions, also known as MMP. Monroe, still and always will be one of the most famous sex symbols of the 1950s. It was her appearance that movie parts were given to her, not talent. And because, She was not taken seriously and known only for her "dumb blonde", parts that became who She was in Hollywood, rather than what She was and wanted. It was because of the stereotype acting roles that She could not persuade director's and producers to change, She decided to focus on her own entity. Marilyn Monroe Productions, in 1955, Monroe focused on learning the art of acting. With learning, She studied at the actor's studio with an emphasis on method acting. At the end of 1955, a new contract which became available, to Marilyn, from Fox Studios, allowing Marilyn more control on parts not only offered to her but parts she could decide on whether to accept or deny. After, her studying with the actor's studio, not only did Monroe have choices in the acting parts, characters she chose, but a much larger salary, to match those parts. In 1956, she star's in Bus Stop and performing in the very first independent production of MMP, The Prince and the Showgirl (1957), she won a Golden Globe for Best Actress. The dedication to being able to do great acting roles, to be taken seriously, proved to be a smart move on Marilyn Monroe.
