My new tribute to one of my all time favourite musicians and creative souls, the icon, the legend that is David Bowie. STAEDTLER Graphite pencils and General Pencil Company charcoal on high quality, 42 x 60cms Strathmore Artist Papers Smooth Bristol Board. I was extremely saddened by the death of one of my idols. I'd been meaning to do a series of Bowie drawings for some time, having drawn him in 2013..when I was terrible at drawing! Just hadn't got round to it with drawing for everybody else. His death compelled me to make a start. I have thoroughly enjoyed the process, listening to Bowie all day, each day whilst I drew. I also shed a few tears, I'm not ashamed to say. Discovering old interviews, live shows, a phone in request live session where Moby called into his "room mate" with a request..to tidy his room haha. I definitely think it helped me with this piece. I am still saddened that he left us, but thankful I got to enjoy 3 decades of his incredible, 5 decade journey! You can view him in the "flesh" when I exhibit on the 16-17th of April, Woodend Studios Spring Exhibition, Woodend Mill, Manchester Road, Mossley, Lancs, UK. OL5 9RR I am thinking of doing a run of Giclée prints and donating £10 from each print to The Christie Hospital in Manchester. It's an incredible hospital treating Cancer sufferers. A close friend recently had life saving treatment there and has since been given the all clear. I'll donate in Bowie and Paul's name. PLEASE NOTE, PRINT WILL BE MINUS THE BARNBROOK "BOWIE" LOGO.
