This is a colored pencil painting that I did based on a photograph that I obtained from a local photographer. I met him at an art show and asked him how much he was asking. He told me that he felt that it didn't turn out and that I could have it for free. I told him that I too was an artist and wanted to base a painting on it. He told me he was fine with that and here is my version. I added the lone person entering the building. This was not a part of the original photo. The stormy sky certainly was and this lead to the title "In Before the Storm". The piece was done on matte surfaced Dura-lar polyester film using Prismacolor Verithin and Faber-Castell Polychromos pencils. The piece measures 8 inches X 10 inches. I hope that you enjoy and that there are no stormy skies in your day.

Artist Reply: Stefani: Thank you again for your lovely comment! I enjoy doing buildings and bricks. A bit tedious, but fun to do. Just takes patience! Thanks again and have a good day. Best regards, Will

Very well done artwork !

Artist Reply: Maria: thanks so much for looking and commenting. Your comments are always appreciated. What started as one man's rejected photograph turned into a rather nice colored pencil piece. I'm pleased that this piece caught your eye. Have a good day. Best regards, Will

Excellent line drawing, nice detail !!

Artist Reply: Mark: thanks so much. I do enjoy doing detail! Probably comes from my previous 31 year career as a university professor. I taught gross anatomy among other courses and was always one to promote the importance of detail. I suppose this has carried over to my art as well! Have a great day and regards, Will.

Artist Reply: John: thanks so much! Your comments are always greatly appreciated. Credit for the unique perspective really goes to the original photographer who felt that the photo didn't turn out.
