Gaia Mother of Earth

A Classically inspired image of the Earth Goddess, Gaia, dancing with the atmosphere & awaiting to give birth to all of the potential the world has to offer!

*SIZE: 24" x 30"

*GROUND: Stretched canvas

*MEDIUM: Oil paints with safflower oil

*MAIN COLORS: earth tones; red oxide (Cadmium Red Deep with Burnt Umber), Prussian Blue ( a vintage deep color not available today), Phthalo Blue, Naples Yellow Hue & Raw Sienna (cream skin tones), Burnt Sienna, Titanium White

*FRAME REQUIRED?: No, but can be framed for a less contemporary style choice. The painting has a deep red and earthy orange border painted nearly all the way around, covering the edges. The black border, as in photograph, is not in the actual artwork

*TEXTURE: smooth, textural brush strokes with areas of wispy scumbling

*SIGNATURE: on lower left with partial title "Gaia", dated 1/3/4

I really like this one.... it says a lot indeed. Wonderful feeling, it let me think about her and her story.. The look of her eyes can tell us somethings and to be a pregnant that's the marvellous thing! Well done!

Artist Reply: Thank you so much! It was very important to me to express, in the eyes, those moments of loving what you're doing and anxiety for what's to come. I speak from observation only, of course, as I have no children, but I do think that the Earth and each Mother-to-be experience both and more while going through the creation cycle.
