Family Map

The idea here was to incoporate elements of my family history into a map. I used the coastlines of where ancestors lived- Virginia, California (LA) Great Lakes (Michigan), France, and Sweden. Each 'box' highlights a story I found (Iraq: my grandfather worked in the oilfields, LA skyline: both sides of my family settled on the edges of the city during the depression and lived in tents, and finally a picture of the house in Sweeden that is all that we have left in connection to family there). I looked at old maps for inspiration, and used turpentine washes for a washed out bleeding look. ~5ft x ~3ft
