From the Wings...

A trio of corps dancers in stage makeup and costume, observe the performance while waiting for their cues just offstage..... (11 x 14, acrylic paint on stretched canvas).

Involved as I am with a local dance company, I have spent considerable time over the years creating props and aiding with backstage management for numerous ballet performances. Consequently, I have come to appreciate the artistry of classical ballet and the amount of work and dedication that goes into a full-scale dance production -- the many and long hours spent rehearsing and costuming, watching and waiting. I appreciate the opportunities I have had to experience and observe the charged emotion, energy and drama, as well as those quiet, private moments, just offstage during performances. It never fails to fascinate me..... ....
