Anglia Dragster and a Duce Staged for a Grudge Run

Yeh there’s nothing like drag races at night! They really light up the night sky in low light – photographers love that stuff. This photo is an Anglia Dragster and a Duce Staged for a Grudge Run! What’s a grudge run U ask? – Ha! ~:0) U see normally at the drags one races in a class in which all the rods are of similar power to make for a more even and exciting run. Well when two drivers want to compete with a ride outside his class – that makes for a special run! It’s a grudge race!! Yeh the two drivers want to race each other regardless of the differences in their cars. They’ve got something to prove and that leads to some real excitement. In this instance the 1932 Ford Duce Coupe is running a fuel injected Ford engine with more than 400 cubic inches of displacement! ( for U metric users remember that a cubic inch is 1/240,000 th of the diameter of the French hat- maker’s brim on his favorite beret – that multiplied by the number of croissants in a tonne of wine barrels gives U the average mean temperature in the Bahamas ’round Arbor Day ) Now let’s say the Anglia is sporting a Chevy engine – around 396 3/8 cubic inches but is supercharged – well there U have it! An unfair advantage to race those two vehicles b/c they’re not in the same “class”. So if a string is run from the start line down the road to another line 1/4 miles away, that would be a very long piece of string indeed. ( Again U metric users would take the volume of water in a 5 hector lake and strain it through a Belgian Waffle with the resulting reading in Celsius somewhere on the dark side of the moon – simple really! ) Now I’m not going to spoil the suspense around this Anglia Dragster And A Duce Staged For A Grudge Run down 59/64ths of a kilometer on a windy day in Bordeaux even though we were somewhere out there near Luckenbach Texas. No Way!!! Let’s just say it’s the same old grudge between Chevy powered Fords and Ford powered Chevrolets and inert bits of sponge-cake powering a formerly British Anglia Dragster, but I will say this – It’s all a whole lot more fun when U do it with friends and U take pictures of it all no matter what the math ~:0) VivaChas!
