This tribal warrior piece was done back in high school in 1987. Ink on paper. I've always imagined that these are two brothers huddled together to get their picture taken after a hunt. Although the warriors look quite angry and scary the idea for this piece came from a very innocent place. I was watching the rerun of Gilligan's Island that had the tribal warriors on it. They were of course stereotypical cheap Hollywood costumes on actors, but it got me thinking about the real tribesman of the forests and jungles through out time. Where true survival depended on man's base instincts.
