Life is a Journey..

During Sep, 2011 my son, Saar together with group of 150 pupils from his school visited Poland.
They traveled mostly concentration camps, learning about the HOLOCAUST Subject from a closer look.
During their stay there, they light candles.. made ceremonies in memory of 6 million Jewish, that were exterminated in Holocaust. .
During their 7 days stay in Poland, we followed them from far (here) in photos and videos, that were posted 3 times a day in a special site.
The teenagers age 17+ had a special, different experience. Each time, I looked at the photos, i felt part of this experience.

Upper photo is one of many photos, that were posted in "following journey" site, during their visit. My son Saar can be seen there (right)..
( today you can click on the photo to enlarge it)
The bottom photo is another photo of part of his class.

The video below was taken in Auschwitz, My son Saar also can be seen there.. though, his spoken part, is not seen.

Next month the parents will have a special day with the kids at school, in this subject.

Thanks for visiting...
Wishing you the best..

I was in Dachau... and it's impressionable and very emotional touching to visit a place like that! I can imagine what they feel being there...

Nira, thanks for sharing the videos and photos with us. I visited Auschwitz about 12 years ago and have to admit that it was such a really moving, poignant, sad and shocking experience. It was during this visit that the sheer scale of the horror and torment, that these poor innocent people had to endure, really hit home to me.

Artist Reply: I think it is important to see.. Even if not easy.. and it isn't.. And... i think what happened during WW2, Can't be understood-able.. the dimension of the horrors, the amount.. is unbelievable.. So there's importance in seeing it, to remember that such events actually happened in reality... With hope to a better world.. Thanks for sharing me, Elaine with your experience.

Wow,must have been an amazing deep moving experience for Saar and the other 150 pupils. The horror and tragedy that took place in that time of history should never be forgotten!I remember the stories my Grandmother shared with me of what she and her family experienced in Poland during World War 2...So much sorrow and loss during that time for the Jewish People,The Apple of God's Eye! Thank You for Sharing! With Much Love&Prayers,Dee&David (((((((Hugs))))))

Artist Reply: Dearest Dee.. Indeed i think it is very important experience that they had during their time, in Poland.. I was thrilled by it, as well... Some says, it make a change in the kids after such trip. Personally... While i followed all week in photos, i felt part of his experience.. Viewing the girls, sometimes with a tear or tears... bring a tear to my eYeS as well. Thanks for visiting... THE WORLD MUST NEVER FORGET...

I wish we had such programs here.......sometimes I think we here in America have forgotten the Second World War and not pay much attention to the legacy of it. I'm so happy your son and his class are learning this very "Important" message. May We Never Forget !

Artist Reply: Dear Thomi.. Indeed part of the world forgot.. some does not know the HOLOCAUST Was indeed a fact that happen.. I'm glad that there are such programs in Israel, it is so important to remember. It is not a MUST... Not all kids go there, but i think MOST of the pupils from Saar's school went.. It was excellent organized.. And, i think it's part of them becoming more matured also. I will not forget..!! Thanks!

Dear Nira, thank you for sharing this with us, I agree with all the comments. During my time in the Navy I visited the Belson camp in Germany, a very sombre experience, never to be forgotten...

Artist Reply: Geoff... As a teenager i visited in Dachau, Germany. But i think my son's experience in Poland was much stronger then mine.. because it was their main subject during 7 days. Through my childhood, until nowadays.. each year we have "HOLOCAUST DAY" in Israel, with many TV program about the subject.. IT IS NOT EASY TO VIEW. I think that teenagers and even us as adults watching LESS T.V, Since the internet era.. and therefore, we see LESS... It is the BEST Go there to visit and study about it. Thanks for visiting.

It is always good to see young people showing an interest in the past, even though it was a sad and tragic past, I am sure it helps them appreciate what they have and where they are today. Thanks for sharing Nira...

Artist Reply: Peter hello there.. thanks for visiting.. I agree with you... I think they come back different from such voyage. Good evening!!

What a great opportunity for them all Nira, I wish my own students were able to experience the site first hand. thanks for sharing this.

Artist Reply: Ropati.. thanks for visiting.. I wish it also for your students.. AS i would wish it to all pupils of Israel. You see my grandfather, who born in Lublin Poland...(where my son also visited) wished to go back to poland when he was old... but somehow did not fulfilled his wish... MY SON DID IT... And it's like closing another circle in life. Greetings from here.

It's a sad part of our history...... But the youth needs to know what happened and it's great how this trip was managed. Thanks for sharing my dear, enjoy your evening.
