Artist Reply: These things pumped water from the aquifer and brought water for people and livestock. There numbers are dwindling just like the old barns of yore. Some sre still used to water cattle and are used in rural areas for human consumption. Unfortunately, the water table is dropping rather quickly here and these windmills want lift water that high so they will soon be gone I guess.
