Whitby in bright winter sun

Pastel on watercolour paper, 18" x 14", Hard work this painting. I started the painting on watercolour paper, big mistake, I've used w/c paper before for pastel artwork but it has mainly been for still lives. But once started it becomes a challenge, the paper will not carry a lot of pastel, so little blending available. The colours had to be put on thickly and pushed back, tedious! it should have been done on pastel paper but nothing ventured nothing gained, I was glad to see it finished but learned a lot in the process.
