Colorado State Forest Service

spent the day high in the Rockies helping with the felling of MPB killed Ponderosa Pines.. well, I can't cut 'em down yet but I get to watch and clean up. Hard work. I love it. Part of my internship with CSFS.

Great shots Nancy. What's MBP? I don't think we have that here. A lot of our die-back is caused by cinnamon fungus (Phytophthora cinnamomi). What a shame to see these lovely trees gone :(

Artist Reply: Mountain Pine Beetle ~ Dendroctonus ponderosae because of lack of fires and warmer winters they have become a epidemic killing a couple million acres of mostly Lodgepole pine, and now Ponderosa. thanks for commenting.
