Way Ahead Of The Game

Client : Times Education Supplement June-2004 This piece was commissioned by the Times Educational Supplement. The article is about the use of GPS (global positioning system) in education. These devices use satellites to trace your exact position on earth. The example given is that of teaching children how lions live by simulating the animals natural habitat in a playing field. The children become lions and certain areas of the field trigger sounds and images on hand held computers and headphones. The brief stated that although the subject of the magazine is IT in education, a digital approach was not required. The purpose of the illustration was to capture the imagination of the reader and to show how these advances in technology open up many possibilities for education. Amber Chambers
