Breast feeding: India (2011)

This is the second of four paintings of breast feeding. This one comes from India, where a peasant woman sits in front of a poor village. It may be the one picked for auction at for the Breast Feeding Coalition silent auction. You can help decide which one will be most successful.

Another beautiful and sensitive portraiture in your series of a mommy and her newborn, showing the importance of nursing your baby. MY POD! --You know, David, I'm Dutch living in the States and I'm still stunned about the puritan point of view of lots of Americans. My daughter has to feed her baby-girl under a kind of "tent" which she drapes around her shoulders when she is not at home; Almost 30 years ago I breast fed my daughter in the open in a restaurant in the Netherlands. I so totally agree with Nelly!! When breasts are used for feeding, you should not have to hide them! --Love and Light, Olga

Nicely composed, David....and of course your wonderful use of color! I wonder if Tim has ever seen breastfeeding, as the babies face and mother's hands of necessity block any large views of the process... I would have a difficult time choosing the auction pick ~ the two very tender paintings seen so far are both wonderful!

I think this is not censoring, it is just like it is. Reading the comment of Tim now, and too Dutch me to think at that. Breasts are breasts and nipples are nipples, both are essential for breast feeding. They are all beautiful! It has nothing to do with being a true artist or not. Love your work David! It has a caressing look, full of love! Can feel so well the love for the baby! Looks so serene.

I Like the way You Censor the Painting with Positioning. Some Artists would "Show it all" with an Insistance of freedom of expression. To Be a True Artist,is to Cater to All Ages,in Visuals, yet Speak as clearly,in Overall Message.Very classy,David!
