This one was my first ever digital painting. Originally started in PSP7, I pretty much ruined it by saving it as a jpeg probably a hundred times over the few months it took to finsih. (live and learn eh?) Most recently I repaired and reworked it in Painter 8 to make it presentable. Originally inspired by a trip to Bonaventure Cemetery while on vacation in Savannah, Georgia. In the book "Midnight In the Garden of Good and Evil" by John Berendt, a real life character named Minerva says "To understand the livin', you got to commune wit' the dead." One morning down on River St., I was talking to an old guy who was weaving flowers from long grass off the river bank, and made a comment about that old voodoo woman giving me the creeps. The old man told me, "Down here, the fog gets thick on the ground ... comes in creepin' and wraps around ya ankle like it's got somethin' on it's mind ... " Creepy ol' dude, but I liked him. Cheers. ;)
