Painted in memory of IZ Kamakawiwo’ole, famous Hawaiian musician, singer-songwriter, who died at age 38. (His hit song: “Another side of the rainbow”). Wind blows through the IZ seashell and reincarnates into flowers on the right with the facial features of IZ. Koa is the largest tree in Hawaii, used for surfboards and ukulele production. (Koa also means bold, fearless, warrior). Unnecessary letters written by missioners in the sand are washed away, showing that for communication and poetry just 12 sounds can be sufficient. Hawaii is the only state in the U.S. that has its own unique official State language. It was formerly considered endangered (after being officially banned), but now shows signs of revival
