Alice and the Bosch Monsters

"Alice and the Bosch Monsters" is the title - one of my favourite Alice in Wonderland paintings I've done yet! This is the fifth in my sub-series called "Alice in Other Lands" which are paintings featuring Alice in a variety of unusual circumstances inspired by old Masters and Art History movements in general. One of the most memorable things of course about Bosch's masterpieces are the magnificent and crazy monsters he often included in his hellish scenes, and some have made cameos here in my painting! My Alice is here in a surreal landscape featuring countless Hieronymus Bosch references. I've always thought that Alice's adventures should continue into many other bizarre tales, and you can expect to see more from me in the future. Hieronymus Bosch is a huge influence on my work - a big part of the reason I became interested in gothic and fantasy art. My own lowbrow big eyed take Bosch's work - a celebration of my love for Art History in general as well. This is my own original acrylic painting. ©Jasmine Becket-Griffith - prints are available at http://www.strangeling.com and http://zazzle.com/strangeling*
