WONDERFUL LIGHTING IN THIS ABSTRACT.

Artist Reply: Thanks Nira. I used a Random Density Map to create the sun efect (chose GIMP's Sparks brush for the Density fill target), and used a Stars in the Sky Script-fu to create most of the stars. :)
