THE ART OF WILLIAM “BILL” GARDOSKI I AM A REALIST ARTIST

I live with my wife of 36 years in Meridian and work from my home studio. I have three Son’s, a Daughter, three dogs and two cats.

I was born in 1945 and am an Idaho Native, working as a Body Repairman/Painter, Long Haul Truck Driver, Policeman, and served six years in the US Army.

My goal is to document historical events, nostalgia, and showcase the wonderful things man has made. Buildings, Landmarks, Ships, Planes, Automobiles, Trucks and Trains.

I have no formal art training whatever, I am completely self taught, I work exclusively with oil on canvas, and strive to make my work as realistic as possible. You will notice that almost all my work is of machines, and machinery of some sort. I do not do portraits, wildlife or flowers, and seldom straight landscapes, without some kind of machine.

Using only 12 colors, and, with the exception of the very large areas of my work, almost all of the painting is finished with very small brushes, ranging from 0 to 000 in size. I have my own style, and could not teach it to anyone, as it is unique to me.

Regardless of the size of my paintings, they all involve between 90 to 150 hours to complete, and as I work wet on dry, I am usually working on at least 20 at a time, rotating work as they are drying. I have quite a few “Works in Progress” the reason is many works are sold when finished and I have few finished works sitting around to show.

I have won many competitions, have work in national catalogs, have done international commissions, sold railroad art prints world wide, and my F-4 Phantom Painting was juried to hang for a year in the Naval Aviation Museum in 2002.

The Western Idaho Fair purchased a painting in 2000, The Meridian Library Commissioned a Railroad painting in 2004, it hangs in the lobby. In 2010, the City Of Meridian purchased my painting of the Meridian Creamery to hang in City Hall. I am a juried member of the “American Society of Aviation Artists”. I have sold many original works, both nationally, internationally and locally, a large number of which were commissions. One of my paintings of the Jewel of the Seas is hanging onboard her today.

I thrive on detail and accuracy in my work, and the greatest compliment is “that looks like a photo”!

Please enjoy viewing my effort. Take the time to read the Descriptions by the Paintings
