Since the year 2000 my works try to bring out a certain mood/feeling that is inside the subject portrayed or created in me by what I see/imagine. This I try to put out with a simplicity that leads onto deeper implications in my works. I believe that the work should lead on to other thoughts, be it a story or a feeling... like a cue card that hints to something else. For this, I concentrate on vivid textures like walls, backgrounds that add more to the feeling of the subject. Black lines and bold forms add to the internal dream-like state of the subjects. And these I attenuate with color combinations and textures in and around the subjects. And finally, dark, sometimes contrasting, shadows add to the effect.
