My name is Gustav Min, I live in Kent in the UK, which is very nice. I have been painting for a few years before recently finding I was taking it seriously. It crept up on me, such is the nature of all things wonderful. I am currently hoping to find avenues to present my pictures (exhibitions,etc...) A short bit about my pictures now follows -
I produce abstract paintings using acrylics on canvas. Bright, happy colours that appear almost child-like at first glance. My paintings are about shapes and colours and the way they relate to each other; the action takes place at the point at which they meet, the edge so to speak. I have no formal training as an artist beyond reading Henry Miller's "The Angel Is My Watermark", but have instead super-imposed all that I have learnt as a musician on my painting (song-structure, instrumentation, etc... ). I believe this gives my work a freshness, as it isn't bogged down by convention and has a tremendous freedom of style. I mainly concern myself with the Abstract, but also incorporate elements of Opart into my work. I find these mediums liberating and satisfying on a personal level because they involve the viewer, indeed they depend upon the audience taking an active role in their appreciation of the painting; it becomes a more involving and satisfying experience for all concerned.
I am now going outside to feed the birds, drink coffee and "smoke a tab" as we say in these parts. Thanks for listening/reading. x
