Biography Ronny Johnson was born on august 25, 1971 in Oakland, California. He attended Sheltons Kindergarten and Bancroft learning center in Berkeley, California where a young teacher with the same name was an artist. Here he first knew of what an artist was and began to try to be one because he had to0 many visions at his young age that drawing was a means of getting them out of his head.
He attended St. Josephs The Worker Elementary School in Berkeley, California, where he began to draw again around 3rd grade. He drew and designed everything he wanted to from planes to boats to pets to cars to fruit to friends to whatever he saw and wanted to look better. By the seventh grade, his parents enrolled him into the California College of Arts & Crafts to start for his art education.
In the sixth grade and until today, he was exposed to graffiti art and began to focus on that as his most enjoyable form of art. He drew something everyday of his four years of high school during classes and after to perfect his talent. He began to paint jackets (which he was world known), canvas boards, and airbrushed on clothing and wood.
In college, his education at UC Berkeley increased his yearn for art and helped him explore all forms of art and mediums much further than he cared to before. An education in Art history, architecture, and psychology assisted his style of art by helping him think further into his intellect and the world he perceived.
After college, he wanted to develop himself as an architect, graphic designer, furniture designer, and fashion designer. During that time, many art ideas and visions were created and put on the shelf for a later day.
That day is now.
Style Description and Artistic Objective
Artistic History I have been creating art that I can gather and display since 1983.
Mediums Used Tools: Airbrush, Machinery, Watercolors, Acrylics, Oils, Pen, Pencil, and Computer Materials: Canvas, Paper, Wood, Glass, Steel, and more
Education University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, California Received Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture, May 1994 Received Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Art, May 1994
Collage My collage style is a mixed media collage of acrylics, pencils, inks, and airbrush paints. I developed my style from creating different objects of similar meaning and purpose, juxtaposing, and organically or geometrically arranging them in such, a unique way the viewer can understand the complexity and how it all flows together. Nothing is happenstance.
Graffiti Graffiti is an art form that many people do not understand nor comprehend. Its complexity and style within a simple structure is overwhelming and/or discouraging to most viewers.
My graffiti styles are unique to all other artists because I make the letter and the word come alive and move off the medium and unto your mind. Graffiti in its endless capacity is a means of direct expression of word and abstract shape, color, and imagery. I strive to make classic and timeless words that have feeling and emotion.
Painting and Imagery I would call myself a conscious fine artist. Whether it is political, social, ethnic, or something else; my purpose for painting is to create imagery that is relevant, rhythmic, and powerful.
I treat fine art similar to music or dance, in that the sign of the times and my experiences control my fine art and what I decide to express. What you see is what I feel about what is going on today and how it affects me.
Sculpture Materials and sculpture is my freest for of creative expression and my emotion. My sculpture is from some real image or idea and then, abstracted in such a way that I try to demonstrate the freedom of another world mixing with our reality, creating a deeper visual meaning to our every day lives.
