Artist Bio

Influences & Inspirations- I get a lot of inspiration from music of all kinds... from The Cure ('Wish' and back), Portishead, Luna Sea, Ani DiFranco, Tori Amos, Loreena McKennitt and Cocteau Twins to Beethoven and other instrumental music (the soundtrack to the Squaresoft game 'Chrono Cross' is a personal favorite). Artistically I'm influenced by anime/manga from Japan, as well as the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood and other classical sources. My favorite artists include Micheal Parkes, Stephanie Law, Brian & Wendy Froud, The Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood (and associates), and Jody Lee.

Art- I've been drawing as long as I can remember, and always knew that when I 'grew up' I wanted to be an artist. I took art classes all through school, and even majored in Fine Arts in college. My trek into the world of art school beyond high school was very short lived- I decided I hated it after the first semester and left. I've taught myself ever since, though one day I may work up enough courage to try taking art classes again. The world of fantasy always appealed to me- I like to create things that bring a certain amount of magic to people's everyday lives. I first started creating faerie paintings in the fall of 2000.

Technical- I use Winsor & Newton professional quality paints and brushes. I love the bright vibrant colors I get, as well as the consistancy of the product. I also use Sakura Micron pens, and a good mechanical pencil for the line drawings. As for paper, I'm currently experimenting with different kinds to decide which I like working on the best. Right now my favorite is Winsor & Newton rough surface. Generally my works range from 5x7 to 8x10, occasionally 11x17.

Digital works are done on my AMD XP 1800+ using Adobe PhotoShop 7 and my 9x12 Wacom Intous graphics tablet.

Personal- I recently relocated to the Seattle area with my husband and our two cats, Miss Kitty & Annie.
