Octavio Diaz-Berrio was born on January 13th, 1943 in Oporto, Portugal.
Octavio decided to give up painting and architecture to pursue the Light.
His first steps in photography happened at the age of 10 when he traded a stamp collection by his first camera. Became a professional photographer in 1968 by the hand of Mario Neves through the Cinema, where he learned to "Write with the Light" with some well-known Directors of Photography such as Elso Roque, Acacio de Almeida and Roby Muller (in Hollywood).
His hunger of aesthetic-technique and sense of purism turned him to Still Photography where he developed his skills in the field of Fashion, Advertising, Industry and Editorial photography.
Octavio was teacher of "Photography" and "Theory of Photography" in the School of Visual Arts Antonio Arroyo, IADE - Institute of Art and Design and Belas-Artes.
Octavio is a member of the Portuguese Authors Society (S.P.A.). The Master Photographers Ass. in the United Kingdom, gave him the highest associateship - "A.M.P.A." in 1979.
Selected by ADIP - Art Directors Index to Photographers, Switzerland, to an international exhibition in 1984 sponsored by Japanese Kodak and the Advertising Agency Dentsu in Tokyo and Osaka, wins the first and second rewards.
Octavio had probations in Germany, Spain and Switzerland in Fashion Photography, The Light in the Cinema and Digital Treatment of Image.
With Octavio's images, corporations sell ice cream, whisky and shirts...but Octavio still remains astonished with what light can do, when well handled.
Octavio is a free-lance photographer.
