Artist Bio

I have lived in Florida for most of my life. I was born and raised in Panama City. I first moved to Tampa in 1973 after a four-year tour of duty in the Navy.

I have always loved art but never really pursued it until just a few years ago when it helped to bring about a miraculous healing for me in many ways.

In March 2003, after being plagued for many years by alcoholism, hypertension and depression, I went for treatment at the James A. Haley V.A. medical center in Tampa. It was there during treatment that I was first introduced to arts and crafts as a type of physical therapy. After a 28 day stay in the V.A. ADATP (alcohol and drug abuse treatment program) I was sent ACTS (Agency for Community Treatment Services) here in Tampa. During my stay at ACTS a lady from the V.A. would come by once a week bringing arts and crafts. It was a wonderful therapy for me and I discovered that I could do them very well.

Later in the year 2003 I had to undergo open heart surgery. I was not given physical therapy after the surgery. Still residing at ACTS, the arts and crafts became my physical therapy. As I began to heal my love for art began to increase. I began going to art shows at Hillsborough Community College and other places.

I enrolled in art school studying from Art Instruction Schools of Minneapolis, MN and am currently studiying under the tuteledge of master artist Darrell Crow (www.darrellcrow.com).

In February of this year (2006) one of my art pieces, "The Spirit of The American Veteran" which you can see posted on this site, won second place in its division at the V.A. National Arts And Craft Show held locally here In Tampa.

Many of my works will be going on permanent display in the National Homeless Coalition Office in Washington, D.C. soon.

All of my works come with a certificate of authenticity.

I hope you enjoy these works.
