In 2007, Cherie Hanson was one of the 61 artists who won a juror's prize from a field of 847 selected for the Biennale of Contemporary Art in Florence, Italy.
Her work has been juried into shows in Chicago, Toronto, Prince George, Edmonton and Vancouver. In Europe, she has been selected for shows in the Grand Hotel in Florence and the Trevisan Show Traces of Memory in Ferrar, Italy.
After 20 years of writing, producing and directing plays as well as creating set pieces, choreographing and designing and sewing costumes, Cherie retired to focus on visual art.
She was selected by the City of Kelowna from among a field of artists to set up a studio in the Rotary Centre of the Arts in Kelowna's cultural district.
Her work was selected for the Ripple Effect Press's cover art image, been chosen by the City of Kelowna for the Centennial CD cover. In December 2006, she was selected by N.Y.Arts Magazine in their picks column as an artist to watch.
Her straight ahead photography was juried into the upstreampeoplegallery on line group of 35 artists from a field of over 600 professional photographers. And one of her multi-media pieces was selected for the same site out of 700 multi-media artists world wide.
In March of 2007 and in February 2008, her work appeared at the Lennox Contemporary Gallery, Toronto, Ontario. She has been devoting herself to drawing, painting and digital photographic art for over nine years.
She has created five book cover jackets, four CD covers and digital design for brochures.
