Artist Bio

I was born and educated in Utah. The area in which I live is beautiful and has always afforded me many a muse and vibrant reference material. Portrait work and the human form always came to be such a natural/organic process for me.

My mother had always claimed that at the age of three years; I stated that I was going to be an artist. While my older siblings were off at school I would sit at my little desk, I would draw and color for the entire day! I would have art shows at family and neighborhood gatherings. I feel so fortunate. My family encouraged and supported my artistic endeavors throughout my entire life.

I truly believe that there is always room to grow and something new to learn. I constantly strive for growth and formal education is but one avenue in which achieve this goal.

I grew up spending time in both Utah and New Mexico. From this experience I gained strong cultural ties to both my Hispanic and Native American ancestry. In college I studied fine art, art history, design and engineering (among other fields), with my art history background I studied the art of my ancestrial cultures, however I found that my natural urges led me in the direction of photo realism and classic fine art.

Of all of the mediums that I work in I would have to say that I love working in colored pencil because of the control and detail this medium affords me. Thanks for visiting my portfolio.
