Artist Bio

Despina Tunberg was born in Greece in 1958 and she grew up in Athens. In 1983 she and her husband, visited Hania for the first time. They both fell in love with the wonderfull Venetian harbour and the beautiful landscapes and they decided to go back and live there for good! In 1986, they moved there with their two kids, Karl and Myrina. Her Husband Thomas, who is the son of the Great Screen writer Karl Tunberg (the screen writer of the film "Ben Hur"), is an Archeologist and also a screen writer. Despina worked for many years as an English language teacher at the school she established with her husband, and as a painter.

In 1999 she decided to dedicate herself totaly to art.

She left the school to her husband and she opened Omma Center of Contemporart art. Since that she has been working full time in this.

She is a self-taught painter.
