I am an acrylic painter of seascapes, landscapes and portraiture for 48 years. My goal: Make the viewer happy. My art has been commissioned and shown in galleries in Southern California, Sedona, Arizona, Florida and Hawaii. My earliest influences came from growing up in tropical southeast Florida. Beautiful turquoise waters, amazing cloud formations, vivid sunrises and sunsets began and ended each childhood day and ignited a deep passion for these coastal treasures. Painting them was pure joy and a way to capture them to share with others. At eighteen I moved to Southern California and attended California State University Northridge majoring in fine art as well as attending UCLA and numerous artist’s workshops. From my home in Laguna Beach I became inspired by the luminosity in the pacific ocean sunrises, sunsets and moonlight. I attempted to bring this intensity into my art by applying layers of sheer color acrylic glazing, giving my work a prismatic glow and depth that closely mimics the real thing. I now live just north of Hilo on Hawaii Island on our fruit plantation overlooking the ocean. My latest works reflect Hawaii’s bright, rich colors of tropical flowers, trees, ocean and skies.
