Artist Bio

As a photographer Filip Naudts (Belgium, 1968) considers himself a self-taught artist, because he selected his subjects and influences wholly on his own. In 1992, he began his career working for the Belgian national television and press. The following year, he was employed by the Antwerp FotoMuseum, where he remained until 2002. From that time on he became photo editor of FOTO, a Dutch magazine. In 1993 he also founded his own photo studio GUARDA LA FOTOGRAFIA in Lochristi. He quickly developed his own style by photographing what he calls "female equivalents" and his own form of therapeutic introspection was born. In 1998 a landmark moment in his photographic career happened in Prague. A favourable review in a leading Czech photo magazine convinced the National Technical Museum to exhibit his work. This publicity resulted in the development and publication of his first book "Auromatic". Today Filip Naudts is probably one of the most compelling, thought-provoking artists in contemporary photography… (www.filipnaudts.be)
