Self Portrait

In 2004 I was looking for bubblegum agates where the town of Conata SD once stood. There was an old dump site and there in the dirt was a rusted hull of a mortice lock. A funny feeling settled into me and I picked up that lock and said to myself, “That looks like the head of a robot.” Then I gathered a whole lot of junk from that dump site to have enough pieces to make that robot whole. Then and there I began making stuff out of junk. Now I make stuff out of anything.
